Principal Email to Parents - 3/15/2020
Good Afternoon Falcon Family,
I am writing to follow up on York High specific topics related to the recent information that was shared from the division regarding school closures.
Monday March 16th Picking Up Student Items
Parents are asked to contact the York High main office at (757) 898-0354 to make arrangements to collect medications or personal belongings critically essential to support learning at home. It is important to contact the school prior to coming. It will allow school personal an opportunity to locate and gather up your items.
When you call please provide your students name, your name, and what you are picking up. We ask that you bring a photo id when picking up any item. Any medication taken from the clinic will require a parent/guardian signature. This collection opportunity will only be available Monday, March 16 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Continuous Learning During the School Closure
For grades 9-12, alternative learning plans have been prepared in an electronic format for all content areas and individual classes. These learning activities will be posted to each individual class page on Aspen by noon tomorrow March 16. Electronic resources, hand-outs, etc. will also be posted. Those families who have reported a need for a division-issued device to support home learning have been contacted directly with information on when and how the devices can be collected.
In order to maintain continuity of learning, all teachers, will be providing parents and students with information on how they can be reached and when they will be available to provide student support for home learning.
Teachers, administrators and guidance counselors will be holding office hours for two hours each day (Monday-Friday) during the school closures and this information will be communicated to students and parents through Aspen and by email starting Monday, March 16. During these hours, students or parents can contact staff through Aspen, email, Remind, etc. to ask questions or receive assistance. Our Falcon staff is dedicated and willing to assist our students in any way that we can!
We will continue to send updated information as it becomes available. Please check the YCSD website for information as well. During this time, remember to take care of yourself and your family and to closely follow the guidelines provided by the CDC and other medical experts.
