Attendance Information

School Attendance

Consistent attendance is critical to a student’s academic progress.

YCSD attendance policies are outlined in the Student Handbook & Code of Conduct. Attendance will be taken every morning at 8:55am.  If students arrive after that time they are considered tardy.

Parents will receive an automated message from the DES office if their child is absent.  Parents/Guardians are responsible for emailing the attendance secretary and classroom teacher with the reason for an absence within 72 hours.  Any undocumented absence from synchronous learning will be unexcused.   School staff will reach out to families beginning with the first unexcused absence to check on student well-being and offer support to families.  Students accumulating five unexcused absences will be truant. DES faculty and staff are committed to supporting families and students in maintaining consistent attendance to support their social, emotional, and academic success.
