Mount Vernon Elementary School Counseling Team

  • Your two school counselors this year are Mrs. Amy Hoerger (full time) and Ms. Laura Sanlorenzo (part time). Mrs. Hoerger works predominantly with First Grade, Third Grade, Fourth Grade, and Fifth Grade, but is available to all students. Ms. Sanlorenzo works predominantly with Kindergarten and Second Grades, but is available to all students.

     

    Ways Your School Counselor Can Help You

    Monthly classroom lessons on such topics as Communication, Careers, Bullying, Kindness, and more.

    Small groups- Counselors work with small groups of students practicing skills like social skills, leadership, building healthy relationships, anxiety, self-esteem, self-regulation, etc.

    Individual Counseling - Counselors work individually with students using short-term, solution-focused individual counseling. For students who benefit from long-term counseling, referrals can be made to community resources.

    Gifted Program Contact

    School counselors serve as the Gifted Program contact at the school. Please contact them with any questions or concerns.

    Family Life Education

    School counselors teach the Family Life Education curriculum to students in Grades K-3. Counselors and classroom teachers will collaboratively teach the curriculum to students in Grades 4 and 5.
