Elementary School Instruction

  • As of November 5, 2020, all YCSD elementary schools are operating in the Hybrid Model, in which students are provided a combination of traditional classroom instruction and remote learning instruction Monday through Friday.

In the Hybrid Model, students are divided into two cohorts, primarily based on last name, to determine which days of the week the students will be at school learning in-person. The Cohort Schedules are provided below.

On days students are scheduled to learn from home, they will log in and participate in the morning meeting with their teacher and fellow students. Students at home will spend most of their day working independently, either on Canvas or other activities assigned by their classroom teachers. When possible, students may also participate in live small group instruction with either a teacher or para-educator through Microsoft Teams.

Wednesdays are identified as a Student Support and Independent Learning Day. Students will be learning asynchronously while teachers will hold office hours, provide individual or small group remediation. Teachers will also take part in professional learning, lesson planning, and parent conferences.
