• September has started with STEAM at Tabb Elementary School!

We started the school year with an all-school STEAM day!  Students were so excited as they did color chromatography, built catapults, explored wind turbines, created model volcanoes, and much more.  Many of our TES teachers now start the day with STEM boxes, allowing students to create and build first thing in the morning.  Many teachers have gotten grants to purchase materials for their STEM boxes and report that their students are responding positively to starting the day in this way.

Tabb is also in the process of starting their own MakerSpace!  With the help of the PTA, we have started to purchase materials and furniture.  We are currently designing tables and stools.  One wonderful parent, Mr. Richey, has volunteered his time and military “crew” to construct these robotics tables for the space.  We are also about to build crate stools for the space.  The MakerSpace committee will soon be meeting to plan our schedule and how we will roll out the space.  The PTA is holding a fundraising dance in October and has indicated that they will continue to help us with instructional materials.  We are excited to get going and are hoping for an early November opening!
