    3. Hampton Roads Community Foundation
      1. Scholarships require financial need and are renewable for four years unless otherwise noted.

      4. Following scholarships available for Peninsula Students:
        1. AAA Tidewater – J. Theron "Tim" Timmons Scholarship – For graduating high school seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA whose parents/guardians are members of AAA Tidewater.
        2. Jesse T. Bonney Memorial Scholarship – For female Virginia residents under the age of 26. Preference will be given to students from South Hampton Roads.
        3. Charles F. Burroughs Scholarship – For students attending Hampden-Sydney College.
        4. Frank Fang Memorial Scholarship – For Chinese or Chinese American students from anywhere in Hampton Roads (including the Peninsula and Gloucester County) to attend a four-year college or university. This award is merit-based; financial need is not a factor. This is a one-year scholarship; it will not be renewed.
        5. Colonel J. Addison Hagan Memorial Scholarship – For students attending Virginia Military Institute.
        6. George D. and Marion Phelps Hamar HRBOR Scholarship – For LGBT students graduating from a high school in Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk Portsmouth, Suffolk or Virginia Beach.  Level of involvement in the LBGT community will be considered.
        7. Sierra Jenkins Scholarship – For long-time Virginia residents pursuing a degree in journalism or a degree in communications with a concentration in journalism at a four-year Virginia college or university. Applicants must be studying print or online/digital journalism. Preference will be given to BIPOC students. This is a one-year scholarship; it will not be renewed.
        8. Hampton Roads Spartan Scholarship – For students from Hampton Roads attending Norfolk State University with a preference for students who are single parents.
        9. Lawson Companies Employee Scholarship – For current employees of Lawson Companies and their eligible dependent children to pursue undergraduate education at an accredited in-state two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.
        10. Lawson Companies Resident Scholarship – For current residents of Lawson Companies rental properties in Virginia and their eligible dependent children to pursue undergraduate education at an accredited in-state two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.
        11. Margarette Hanes Old Scholarship – For female students from Hampton Roads attending Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC.
        12. Betty Ciampoli Oliver Scholarship – For Hampton Roads residents who attended Woodstock Elementary in Virginia Beach for at least three years, have at least a 2.8 high school GPA, and will attend a community or four-year college.
        13. The Pender Scholarship – For female students attending Notre Dame of Maryland University in Baltimore.
        14. Virginia Eye Foundation Scholarship – For students from the Virginia Beach-Norfolk-Newport News, VA-NC metropolitan statistical area (including Camden, Currituck and Gates Counties in North Carolina). Preference will be given to students obtaining degrees related to ophthalmology, optometry and vision sciences.
    4. The Williamsburg Epsilon Delta Chapter of the National Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity Scholarship – For seniors
      1. Due: March 1, 2023
      2. Amount: Two $6,500 scholarships and one $5,000 scholarship. In addition, two of the local awardees may qualify for the opportunity to receive an additional $5000 grant from the national fraternity, potentially increasing their total award to $11,500.

    5. Granville P. Meade Scholarship
      1. Due: March 3, 2023

        1. Provides financial assistance to students who have achieved academically, but who are financially unable to attend college.
        2. You do not need to be a U.S. citizen to apply.
        3. You must be a senior in high school that is attending school in Virginia (public, private, and home school all are able to apply).
        4. You must be planning to attend a postsecondary institution in Virginia (university, community college, or technical school).
        5. There is no minimum GPA requirement; however, this scholarship is competitive in nature and, typically, recipients are those that have an above average academic record.

    8. Peninsula Sport’s Club Scholarship – For seniors

      2. Amount: $2,000
      3. Details: The scholarship shall be awarded to a special and unique individual who:
        1. Is definitely going to pursue higher education;
        2. Has made a contribution to athletics and the community;
        3. Will not receive full financial assistance through an athletic or academic scholarship;
        4. Has not received a commission or scholarship to a Military Academy;
        5. Has the respect of coaches, peers and teachers.

    10. Horatio Alger Scholarship – For juniors

      2. Amount: 500 State Scholarships at $10,000 each and 105 National Scholarships at $25,000 each.

        1. Be enrolled full time as a high school junior in the United States
        2. Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)

    11. USDA 1890s Scholars Program – For seniors

      2. Amount: Provides full tuition, fees, books, room and board, and a summer internship, which may convert to full-time employment with USDA after graduation.

    12. Computer Science Scholarships – range of scholarships for all grade levels

    13. QuestBridge – For juniors
      1. Due: March 22, 2023
      2. QuestBridge connects academically outstanding students from low-income backgrounds to the nation's best colleges.
      3. The College Prep Scholars Program for high school juniors opens in early February and the application is due in late March. The National College Match for high school seniors opens in late summer and the application is due in late September. 
      4. Details: QuestBridge is for students who:
        1. Excel academically by earning primarily A’s in the most challenging courses available and displaying intellectual curiosity and strong writing ability.
        2. Come from households earning less than $65,000 annually (for a typical household of four), with minimal assets, and often qualify for their school's free or reduced-price meals.
        3. Exhibit strong character, such as resilience, integrity, and motivation to succeed.
    14. 900 Men Strong Scholarship and Community Service Awards Breakfast – For seniors
      1. DUE: March 24, 2023 by midnight (Website is wrong as I received an email directly from the Chairman)
      2. Amount: $1,000
      3. Details:
        1. March 24th deadline is for student enrolling in a Community College and can upload a letter of intent instead of an acceptance letter if you do not have one.
        2. Must be a male student enrolled and in good standing in senior year at a high school located in Hampton Roads, Virginia.
        3. Minimum grade point average of 2.5 on 4.0 scale.

    15. VSCA Student Scholarship – For seniors
      1. Due: March 27, 2023
      2. Amount: $1,000
      3. Details:
        1. Write a brief essay about any school counselor that has made an impact on your life. 
        2. The counselor must be a current member of the VSCA in order for the student to be the selected recipient. 
        3. This Scholarship is for Virginia graduating Seniors in the Class of 2023 who plan to attend a two or four year college or university, trade or technical program or enlist in any branch of the military.

    16. Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program for High School Seniors
      1. Amount: up to $10,000

        1. In 2021, the Sallie Mae Fund expanded the Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program to further promote diversity in higher education among students from under-resourced, underrepresented, and underserved communities.

    17. Tabb High School Booster Club Scholarship – For seniors
      1. Due: March 30, 2023
      2. Amount: Two $1,000 Scholarships - One to a male athlete and one to a female senior athlete.
      3. Details:
        1. The Scholarships have been designated for senior students who demonstrate exemplary sportsmanship and leadership both on and off the playing field, a good work ethic, support of their team, and a positive contribution to the sports program at THS for the good of all, while sustaining a strong level of academic achievement.

    18. Yorktown Woman’s Club Scholarships – For seniors

      2. Amount: A $1,000 + scholarship is awarded to a graduating York County high school senior who has been accepted to a four-year Virginia school.  A $500 + scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior who has been accepted to a two-year or Vocational school in Virginia.

        1. The applicant must be accepted by and attend a Virginia state supported college or university.
        2. The applicant must have an overall grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.  In addition to academic achievement, the applicant will be judged based on financial need, extracurricular activities, and service to the school and community.

    19. Tidewater Soaring Foundation Scholarship Program
      1. DUE: March 30, 2023
      2. Amount: Three Scholarships to participate in camp
      3. Details:
        1. Applicants must be aged 14-22 and must have 14th birthday before application deadline.
        2. Applicants must be highly motivated to complete the program. We ask that students respect TSS flight instructors and ground support crews who have donated their time to educate students during the camp.

    25. The Langley Spouses Club Scholarship – For seniors
      1. DUE: March 31, 2023
      2. Details:
        1. The Langley Spouses’ Club (LSC) awards scholarships to military dependents who satisfy the eligibility criteria.
        2. Applicant must be a high school senior OR military spouse who plans to attend an accredited college or university during the 2023 - 2024 academic school year.
        3. The applicant must be the child OR spouse of one of the following:
          1. Active duty member of the U.S. Armed Forces stationed at Langley AFB.
          2. Active duty reservist of the U.S. Armed Forces stationed at Langley AFB as of 1 January 2023.
          3. Active duty member of the U.S. Armed Forces on a remote assignment from Langley AFB.
          4. Guard member of the U.S. Armed Forces attached to Langley AFB.
          5. Retired or deceased U.S. Armed Forces member residing in the local area.
        4. Applicant must reside in one of the following school districts: Hampton City, Isle of Wight, Newport News, Poquoson City, Williamsburg-James City, or York County.  Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 
        5. Applicants for academic awards should have at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
        6. Home-schooled high school applicants may apply and must supply credentials that are commensurate with the requirement listed in the criteria directly above this point.
