Esports is a new VHSL approved activity that operates according to the rules of any athletic sport. Using PlayVS as our eSports partner, we started our first season this Spring playing Rocket League (Imagine cars playing soccer if you are unfamilar). We were able to play games against teams all around the state of Virginia and scrimmage other high schools across the country (California, Indiana, and Michigan). We also joined in some eSports tournaments that earned us some interest from colleges and universities with eSports programs.

The games are automatically scheduled according to record and matches are played by three players in a best three of five games format. Each game is only five minutes, but the level of competition is incredible (We routinely play Grand Masters) but the sportsmanship is better than any RL game you've played before and the thrill of the contests will have you on the edge of your seat.
