    Finance-Based/YCSD/Other

    • 2023 Granville P. Meade Scholarship
      The Granville P. Meade Scholarship that provides financial assistance to students who have achieved academically but who are financially unable to attend college. The fund awards scholarships to eligible Virginia high-school seniors to attend one of Virginia's public or private colleges or universities.     • 2022 York Foundation for Public Education
      Senior Scholarships are for graduating YCSD seniors who are in need of financial aid for post-secondary education. There are 6 scholarships available (Grafton Kiwanis Club Scholarship $1000, Mike Tylavsky Scholarship $500, Joseph Levi Scholarship $500, Julie M. Sager Scholarship $1,000, Thomas W. Doggins Memorial Scholarship $500, Lee Galloway, Jr. Memorial Scholarship $2,500, and the Trevor J. McLaughlin Scholarship $1000).     • Spotlight News Scholarship
      The mission of Spotlight News is to create, enhance, and support local independent media through arts- and community-focused journalism in the Hampton Roads area. To this end, we will be offering 3 scholarships of $500 each to local individuals studying at a technical school, community college, college or university in Hampton Roads! Applicants must write a 750-1000 word essay and submit 1-2 images. Rolling due date. Website
    • Gweedo Memorial Scholarship Application
      An annual $1000 Gweedo's Giving Scholarship will be given out to a graduating senior each year in memory of Conner Guido. Conner was tragically killed leaving his Junior Homecoming Dance on 10/26/19 in Yorktown, Virginia. https://form.jotform.com/220624544666155

    Visual Arts

    • Junior Woman's Club of Williamsburg
      The Richard DePaul Memorial Scholarship of the Junior Woman’s Club of Williamsburg was established to assist individuals in continuing their education at the college level in the field of Visual and Performing Arts in pursuit of an Arts-related career and to recognize individuals for their talent, academic success and other qualities. To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must be planning to major or minor in the Arts. Applicants must be graduating seniors who are residents of Williamsburg, James City County, or the Bruton District of York County.     • Williamsburg Arts Council, 2023 
      The Williamsburg Arts Council (WAC) will provide a $1000 scholarship for the continuing education of a 2023 graduating high school student from the Williamsburg area pursuing a university arts education.  This scholarship is for a student demonstrating excellence in the visual arts. Judging will be done by the WAC Scholarship committee who will consider the written application along with the artistic submission. The deadline for applications is March 31, 2023.

    Theatre

    • Christopher Newport University Theatre & Dance Scholarships
      Every year this program provides tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships to incoming students, both performers and non-performers, including stage managers, designers, technicians, aspiring directors, dramatrugs, and arts administrators! Due Feb 1, 2023.  
    • John Raynes Memorial Scholarship
      The Peninsula Community Theatre is proud to announce the continuation of the John Raynes Memorial Scholarship Program. A check of $1000 will be presented to the winner of the award at our next annual meeting in June. To be eligible a student must be graduating this year from a certified high school on the Peninsula. This includes students from Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson and York County. The student must have been accepted by an advanced school or college for the upcoming fall semester, with a concentration in acting, directing, technical production, musical theatre, and/or theatre production. The disbursement of the scholarship proceeds will be made upon proof of registration for the fall semester of the academic year at an accredited post-secondary institution.     • McCulley-Scammon Scholarship
      The McCulley-Scammon Scholarship, a $4,000 scholarship payable over 4 years, is available to Greater Virginia Peninsula residents meeting the following requirements: 1. Be a senior at, or have graduated within three years of the due date of the Application from, an accredited high school on the Greater Virginia Peninsula; 2. Have maintained a cumulative B average throughout the four years of high school; 3. Have been accepted as a student to a college, university, or professional school in an academic degree program in theatre, musical theatre or dance. The Board of Directors of the Williamsburg Players may accept alternative curricula which meet high professional standards.     Writing & Literature

    • The Virginia Writers Club
      In keeping with the Club’s vision to foster the art, craft, business and advocacy of the literary arts, the Virginia Writers Club (VWC) awards no less than one college scholarship each academic year. For 2023, there will be a single $2,000 College Scholarship Award to be presented by August 15, payable to the college in the awardee's name. Applicant must currently be a high school or a home-schooled senior who will be enrolled at an accredited college or university during the next academic year and studying a field related to writing (English, journalism, creative writing, etc.) Must have a GPA of 2.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.     Music & Musical Theatre

    • Virginia Choral Society
      Since 2010, the Virginia Choral Society (VCS) has awarded one or more scholarships to graduating high school or home school seniors planning to study vocal music education, vocal performance or musical theater in university or conservatory programs.  As much as we are committed to presenting high quality programs to our communities, VCS is equally committed to promoting the choral arts by assisting students in their study of vocal music.
