Beginning with the December 6 early release day, preschool students will not attend school on early release days for the remainder of the 2021-22 school year.
This decision was made for several reasons including, the short instructional day for students on early release days and the desire to minimize disruption to our students and families.
When your child is absent, notification in writing is required to excuse the absence. Please send an excuse note in the form of an email to email@example.com AND the classroom teacher indicating the reason for the absence. A list of excusable absences can be found in the YCSD Student Handbook & Conduct Code on page 1 (page 12 of document).
When a student is absent and school officials do not receive a note from the parent/guardian documenting the reason, this absence will be considered an unexcused absence. If a student receives five (5) unexcused absences, an attendance contract will be required. A letter will be mailed and a phone call from school administration will be made to notify parents when this need arises.
If a student accumulates ten (10) or more total absences, excused or unexcused, official documentation from a doctor or court to excuse any additional absences will be required. A letter from school administration will be mailed to notify parents when this occurs.
