While all school buildings are closed to the public for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year, the York County School Division will continue to provide instruction through Continuity of Learning Plans (COLP) for students. These Extended Learning Plans, which were developed in accordance with guidance from the Virginia Department of Education, will include a variety of resources and instructional activities.
The division remains committed to our core mission, goals and beliefs and will continue to work with all students and families to provide structure and support in our new remote learning environment. While the final months of the school year will be very different for teachers, students and families, we want all students to remain actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences that support student’s academic progress, prepare them for success in subsequent K-12 and college courses, and foster a life-long learning mindset for students until we are able to return to school.
Additionally, we recognize that COLPs need to be flexible enough to provide access and choice within structured and independent time for students, families, and staff. We are particularly mindful of health and wellness issues, and the added stress many families are experiencing through these difficult times. While some families will seek to engage their children in every educational activity provided, others may choose to participate only to the extent they are able. Our teachers and administrators are committed to supporting your efforts to create a secure and manageable learning space in your home.
Thank you for your support of your child(ren) learning at home. Together we can ensure the success of our students!
